“Why schools bother offering programs…”
“Education” is a business. It’s like banking or prostitution or selling drugs. They do not love their clients. As long as students will pay the educators will give them something to pay for.
Take a dose of cynicism and call me in the morning.
Oh, I’m familiar with all that. I guess I should rephrase my (mostly rhetorical) question as “why do educators, in good conscience, allow future generations to take increasingly irrelevant programs?” Like, with news outlets closing left and right, why do 4-year journalism programs still exist, and do the professors feel guilty while teaching classes in these programs?
Also I’m not sure if this is your first time here or not (if it is, hi! stick around!) but this is cynicism central. I eat cynicism for breakfast lunch and dinner and sometimes I even sneak some in my desk drawer as a snack.
